Chilled Moroccan mint tea rests in delicate glass cups, cool against the creamy sweetness of powdered figs gathered in tarnished silver bowls. Blue chamomile breathe sleepily beneath the haze, delicate and dreamlike, melting into the lingering warmth of skin and worn velvet. Velvet caterpillars drift lazily across mushrooms and damp leaves carried in from the gentle rainfall beyond the conservatory windows. Bergamot cuts through the strange suspended air, bright against the softened fog of languid bodies, ash, and sleep, while the room itself lingers in a tranquil coolness untouched by the cold rain beyond the glass.
